It's Playtime Folks!

Still playing along with the #plusplaytimeqal aka #sandrascraps aka #adultplaytime

I love how this quilt is coming along. I love plus quilts, I have made, oh, 3 of them now, and I love all the variations. If you count wonky crosses as a variation on a plus quilt then I have made 5 of them. I love how the background cross gives a foil to the dancing pluses. Adult playtime indeed.

Today is the linky party for the finished flimsy. I have joined my rows 1 and 2. Row 3 I have left floating so to speak as I am not happy with the blue block.

To be more precise, I am not happy with the plus that has the green and yellow geometrics on the white background. I think it is because it is too insipid. It may be too near the stronger yellow. It may be because the squared fabric to the left also has a white background. They are not strong enough together. I do like the squared blue fabric though, so I think it will stay. Maybe.

For now, I am leaving it as it is, sleeping on it as it were. Next time you see this I imagine the green will be gone!

  1. I think sleeping on it is a good idea. I hope the right solution is easy to find and doesn't take long to fix.

  2. I do love the dance those dotty little prints are doing across that big blue cross! I shall be interested to see if you take the green one out and what takes it's place. I actually kind of like him. What about switching it with the multi colored one beside it?

  3. It looks great. I hope you figure out a solution to the plus that's bothering you.

  4. If this is any consolation, I have a few pluses in my quilt which I would like to have switch around but I didn't. But I did rip out one, fortunately it was the last plus at the end of the first row so I knew it would be a quick fix and I also knew it would have absolutely bugged me if I left it. Hope this helps, your quilt turned out wonderful. This really was a fun quilt to make, wasn't it.

  5. Whatever you decide will be perfect. I think it looks okay. All quilted up, it will take on a whole new personality.

  6. I think it looks great. But if it is bothering you then I say out it goes.

  7. I think it's the lack of contrast with the one on it's left that might be distracting. You could perhaps swap with the solid-ish bright yellow on the right. I have a few in mine that have that same, "Hm, don't love this" feeling. It's hard to get every small plus exactly right when there are so many! I do know that after quilting everything gets a bit more mellow and blendy, which is good :)

  8. Hi Helen,
Well, now I'm wondering what you decided to do. I imagine I will see it in the parade, but it really doesn't bother me. Then again, it's not my quilt and I don't have to look at it either. I hope you do what makes your heart happy! At least it should be fairly easy to fix. Happy Wednesday! ~smile~ Roseanne

  9. Believe me, having ripped out a few of my own dancing pluses, it truly is a quick and easy fix, and I know what you'll be popping on in there. :-) I love your quilt, and love that you said the large blue plus is a perfect foil (you use the best phrases! I may quote you when I release the pattern next month ha!). Thank you for quilting along with me again this year!

  10. I hope you come up with a solution you like that doesn't involve too much seam ripping!
