Who's A Lucky Girl Then?

I completely forgot to tell you about this in last Sunday's post on Stash. I won a prize last week!
The latest book to be a blogging craze is Crafted Applique ....... New Possibilities by Lara Buccella . Lara blogs at www.buzzinbumble.com and writes with a wry humour.  She had a blog hop for her new book and it hopped all over the world including  USA, UK, Ireland. At each stop there was a giveaway for a copy of her new book, and I think I must have entered most of them

I was lucky enough to be drawn by Mr Random in Sandra's blog post. And a lesson here, I wasn't first out of the hat. I was third I think, but the first prize winners were "no reply bloggers". Yep, you don't interact, but you don't get prizes. By the very fact of entering competitions, I think no reply bloggers aren't consciously no reply bloggers.

Back to my prize. This is a fantastic book. Applique has always been very fiddly. ~ The raw edged applique looks a bit rough I find, ok if that's what your aiming for. With needle turn applique I find I sometimes lose definition, particularly in those dratted points. Lara uses a whole new technique with mod podge, beloved by scrapbookers. Mod podge is a kind of glue, like pva glue only better. For grown ups. When painted over paper it seals the paper and gives a sheen, like a light coat of varnish. With fabric it holds it in place and prevents fraying.

Lara has some great projects in the book and each of the blog hoppers in turn gave their own interpretation of Lara's projects. Why don't you hop over and check them out? Here's a link to the blog post listing all the hoppers. The one I fancy trying doing is the needle book case with the telephone box. I fancy a simpler version of this using a fussy cut of some London street fabric I bought in Oxford in Darn And Stitch It.
