Perhaps the most important finish in my proposed finishes, was the Lucent Baby Quilt for our own wee dote. The baby quilt for our grandson, at that stage still unborn. It is listed in the Midget Gem Quilts FAL proposed finish blog post. And the finish is blogged about here
I loved making and quilting this quilt. For several reasons. Firstly because it was for our grandson, our first grandchild. I never expected the pull of emotion when I met him, or had to leave him to come home again. He lives in England and I see us putting up the air miles over the coming months.
Secondly this quilt was designed by Yvonne, the baby version of her Lucent quilt. I had admired it and knew instantly this would be "our" baby quilt.
And thirdly, it was a manageable size! A nice size to sew and an even nicer size to quilt. I still did my straight line quilting, but changed direction frequently.
Here's hoping for a good list of proposed finishes for next quarter and an equal success rate.

There certainly is a lot of love and lovely emotion tied up in this quilt, Helen. I can only imagine how sweet it will be to watch him grow.
ReplyDeleteI know that pull of emotion...its hard to explain but very powerful!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful quilt.
I can feel it through your words and visually by your quilt! It's precious, and made from a pattern I've always admired. Congratulations on becoming a grandmother! I can only imagine the joy!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish it is a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is lovely and sure you'll make many more projects for your wee dote. I agree I like a small manageable project too.
ReplyDeleteI love this finish so much. I wish you many snuggles with your precious bundle. I'm told grandparents are for spoiling of the grandchildren and I have no doubt you will honorably fulfill this duty, no matter how far away he is :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt and a wonderful reason to make it. I once heard it said that you love your children but you fall in love with your grandchildren, either way they add the joy to life.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have your first grandchild and what a beautiful quilt to give him.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty colors!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet quilt, a very special one too! Well done on your Q3 finish.
